The Irony...

It's ironic that I've called my blog 'not another mash-up', when the topics I write about are pretty varied. I only really decided on the name because two of the things I'll probably blog about quite often are Glee and the X-Factor: two telly programmes notorious for their excessive use of mashing two songs together (with sometimes genius, sometimes disastrous results). Admittedly, I had no idea what to name this blog, but I'm hoping it will turn out to be a fitting title for blogging about music and music telly.

And if I start writing about anything else, it'll just be ironic. It's win win.

Now that I've convinced myself on the name of the blog, I'll quickly introduce myself. The name's Kieran Field and I've started to blog out of frustration mainly: writing something and not publishing it anywhere is kind of annoying it turns out.

A bit about my music taste: I'm the furthest thing from a music snob: I'm very top 40 and not ashamed of it. I like a bit of everything but I particularly love, a bit of Pop and Dance music, anything that reminds me of going out, clubbing and absolutely tearing up the dancefloor does it for me. I also have a lot of 'Guilty Pleasures' on my iPod; my friends are often shocked by the amount of 90s pop and showtunes I have on there. I've noticed that even Spotify suggests making the session private when listening to a Broadway cast album. Rude. I know these are not particularly cool genres of music and there are times when I will change my music to some R&B or Hip-Hop to save my street-credibility, but I enjoy them for what they are; I like the nostalgia of listening to songs from my childhood, the camp and theatricality of showtunes.

And to finish, I thought I'd share this little video that sums up my musical interests quite nicely. Enjoy.
