Today's music

I feel the need to blog that I have listened to the Frozen soundtrack seven times today (excluding the score tracks). SEVEN times! It is safe to say I am a little bit obsessed with the film and the music; if you knew me, this wouldn’t come as a surprise because I am a Disney nut, but it is still my opinion that Frozen has the best soundtrack since Pocahontas (“Savages! Savages! Barely even human...").

These songs achieve a similar level of brilliance from the outset; considering children singing usually makes me uncomfortable, Do You Want to Build a Snowman is literally heartbreaking and sets the tone for the whole film. Could we also take a moment to appreciate the fact that Kristen Bell can sing? I mean really sing. Not many people can share a song with Idina Menzel and shine, but For the First Time in Forever proves that it can be done.

I am ecstatic that Menzel’s version of Let It Go has managed to chart at number 31 (and I am not quite over it losing out on the Golden Globe) because it is a fine example of how a song can tell a story. Let It Go could easily be a Broadway classic and is performed with some serious gusto. Plus, I have never wanted to build a palace of ice more in my life.

I guess what I’m trying to say is: I love Frozen, and it looks like everyone else does to! Congrats to Ms Menzel on her highest UK chart position!
